Lumion case study · Welding · Updated August 2026
How Western Welding re-qualified 38% of its stalled applicants in 4 days.
The Blue Collar Tour generates thousands of leads a year. More than any admissions team could ever work. So Western Welding built its own Marketing Agent on Lumion's Agent Teams, pointed it at the stalled list, and watched re-qualified students start flowing back within days.

01 · The academy
Who they are
Western Welding Academy is a welding trade school that has been running on Lumion for more than six years. In that time, Lumion has driven at least a third of their total enrollment.
Part of how they got there is the Blue Collar Tour. Western Welding travels the country visiting high schools, introducing students to the trades, and showing them what a welding career at WWA looks like. It works. The tour generates thousands of leads every year.
This case study is about what happens to those leads after the tour bus leaves.
02 · The problem
Thousands of leads. Not enough hands.
The Blue Collar Tour is a major investment, and the leads it generates are the whole ROI question. Every one of them is a student who met the team, heard the pitch, and raised a hand.
But there are only so many hours in an admissions team's week. Hundreds of applications get started every month. Not all of them get finished. Leads that didn't convert on the first pass sat in the CRM, stale and unworked, while the team focused on the active pipeline.
Western Welding was sitting on thousands of potentially interested students with no realistic way to engage them all. That's not a staffing failure. It's a math problem. And it's exactly the kind of problem an AI agent is built for.
03 · The agent they built
A Marketing Agent in their own voice
Using Lumion's Agent Teams, Western Welding built their own custom Marketing Agent and pointed it at the stalled list.
The agent works every contact across SMS, AI Voice, and Email on a rotating cadence, every touch in the school's own voice: real, blue-collar, plainspoken. It answers questions, defuses whatever stalled the student the first time, and drives toward one goal: completing the New Student Form.
The admissions team doesn't touch a thing until a student shows real intent. Then the agent hands off, with full conversation history attached.
"Every month we get hundreds of applications that students never finish, and my team doesn't have the bandwidth to chase them. So we built Hannah, our Marketing Agent, and put her on the whole list. In 4 days she re-qualified 38% of those students. We didn't have to touch a thing."
04 · The journey
Five stages. One handoff.
Cold Contact
the agent re-opens the conversation
Engaged
the agent qualifies and drives to the form
Form Viewed
the agent nudges from open to start
Form Started
the agent recovers the abandoned form
Completed
the human admissions team takes over
The agent works every stage across SMS, AI Voice, and Email on a rotating cadence, in the student's local time zone. The moment a student completes the form, a high-priority task routes to the human admissions team with full context attached.
05 · The scoreboard
What the numbers say
38% of stalled applications re-qualified
8% of the list completed the New Student Form
5% of those completions enrolled
4 days from launch to the first re-qualified students
Zero additional admissions staff added
Every one of those students had already been written off. The agent is still running, still working the list, still handing hot students to the team.
06 · What's next
Beyond the stalled list
The agent runs continuously now, working new leads as they age out of the active pipeline. Six years of Lumion drove at least a third of Western Welding's enrollment. Agent Teams is how they make sure the next thousand leads from the Blue Collar Tour never go cold.
